I guess a lot of us will consider an act of kindness as the visible one or what we experience firsthand. Most of us will also expect it especially from those we already know. Yes, I believe expectations will really hurt us. Expectation is everybody’s mistake but it may also be a lesson.
We have experienced this: asked for help yet did not receive any or was just given a part of what we actually needed. Do not get disappointed. It is not anybody’s responsibility to accomplish the totality of what we asked for. Instead of blaming others and defining them as selfish (to name a few) or those that do not deserve anything from us, thank them.
Here are some of the reasons why we should thank those who did not help us or in our opinion, just helped us the smallest possible way:
- Without them being that unreachable to our expectation, we will never learn to do it our way.
- They have their own lives to attend to. They gave a part of their time to us. What they gave is priceless and saying Thank You is our brief act of kindness.
- What they did may be our reference on what we should and should not do if it is our turn to be in their shoes.
- There are other things we need to focus on. Do not spend too much time to be negative and let us change our perspective to be more positive.
